Punjab: SIT rejigged in Sidhu Moose Wala case, cops track escape route

CHANDIGARH/BATHINDA : Even as the Punjab police on Wednesday reconstituted the special investigation team (SIT) probing the murder of Punjabi singer and Congress leader Shubhdeep Singh alias Sidhu Moose Wala in Jawaharke village of Mansa district on May 29 by gangsters, the earlier SIT had claimed to have tracked the escape route taken by the assailants.

The new SIT would be chaired by IGP, Punjab Armed Police, Jaskaran Singh, AIG anti-gangster task force (AGTF) Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, SSP Mansa Gaurav Toora, SP(investigation) Mansa Dharamveer Singh, DSP(D) Bathinda Vishwajit Singh and incharge CIA staff Mansa Prithvipal Singh. The SIT will function under the overall supervision of the additional director general of police (ADGP) AGTF Parmod Ban.

HC to take up Bishnoi plea today

The petition would come up for hearing on Thursday. Bishnoi has also impleaded the Punjab government as well as the DGP Prison of Delhi as respondent parties.

In his plea before the Delhi high court, the gangster had voiced the fear that he may be eliminated in a fake encounter by the Punjab police due to political unrest between political parties in the state.

Soon after the murder of Moose Wala, the name of Bishnoi had surfaced in his killing.
