Punjab: Railway Protection Force jawan saves life of passenger

LUDHIANA: A head constable of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) saved a passenger from being crushed under the Shatabadi Express train after he slipped in an attempt to board the moving train at the Ludhiana railway station on Wednesday.

“I arrived at railway station from Amritsar and alighted at the platform number one. The same train was bound for New Delhi. Suddenly, me and my colleague saw the passenger falling from the moving train. He was about to fall under the train when I pulled him to safety in the nick of time,” head constable Bhajan Lal said.

Hailing the cop, social activist Kimti Rawal said, “Both railways and RPF must honour head constable Bhajan Lal who saved the life of a passenger by putting his own life at risk. Moreover, he showed great presence of mind and sharp reflexes. The incident has also exposed the carelessness of the people who endanger their life just for the sake of thrill of boarding the train only when it is moving. In this case, it is quite clear that the person did not board the train when it was stationary.”
