Punjab: PSPCL team held hostage, 3 booked

BATHINDA: In a second such case in Barnala district within a few days, a PSPCL team was held hostage on Thursday and allegedly beaten up at Sehna village when it had gone to check power theft. The team head, junior engineer Vikrant Shah sustained injuries and has been admitted at Tapa civil hospital in Barnala district.

Police have registered a case against three persons for wrongful restraint, assault or criminal intimidation, voluntarily obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions and causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty. The accused have been identified as Chamkaur Singh, Makhan Singh and Nikku Singh of Sehna.

Shah said the team had gone to Sehna in the morning, when some villagers surrounded them and beat them up. tnn
