Punjab: Mohali police conduct search operations at railway station, markets

MOHALI: Police conducted search operations at the railway station and various markets of Mohali using the dog squad and bomb disposal team. The searches were conducted under the supervision of deputy superintendent of police (DSP) City-II Harsimran Singh Bal. He said that the exercise was aimed at instilling a sense of security among residents and sounding a warning to criminals.

“Our idea is to send warning to bad elements to stay indoors lest they get arrested, also to secure the city for residents and make them understand that police is there on the roads for their security,” he said.

Besides checks at railway station with the dog squad and bomb disposal teams, the DSP said searches were also conducted at markets of phase XI, X, IX and other parts of the city under his jurisdiction.

He said that police had been directed to hold meetings with owners of hotels, restaurants, pubs, bars and other food joints opening late into the night to ensure proper working of CCTV cameras and to get them repaired at places where they were not in working condition. He added that hotel owners had been directed to keep a proper record of guests. They were asked to take identity cards and required records from hotel guests and deposit these with the local police station.

Hotel owners have further been asked to inform the local police station in case of an accident. They have been asked to bring customers’ vehicles in their parking lot and not to serve customers who violate the law by sitting in the car.
