HOSHIARPUR: After training rural women to stitch masks as per WHO standards and after procuring it from them, Major Soni Mission Foundation distributed these masks to underprivileged children in six schools in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district. The foundation said that it trained rural women to stitch these masks as per WHO standards and these are very efficient masks with the five layer SSMMS filter.
“A unique and novel model, this project ensures equitable access amongst the underprivileged for fighting the pandemic. The foundation trains rural women to stitch these masks as per WHO standards and distributes these to the needy and underprivileged thereby uplifting both groups simultaneously,” said Akshita Soni, executive president of the MSM Foundation.
"Every time the wave abates people stop using masks and social distancing takes a back seat. We want the children to be educated that this is the time they should take precautions to stay safe from any other Covid wave in India,” she said.
"MSM is committed to doing its bit for the children in this area, be it their education or their safety. These very efficient masks with comfortable elastic and excellent breathability are stitched as per WHO standards, in vibrant colours. We have also distributed masks to the school staff, "said Niyati Verma, country head, MSM Foundation.
The schools where children were provided the masks included, Government Senior Secondary Schools in villages Bajwara, Khadkan, Bohan Patti, Jaijon, Adamval and Saari.
