CHANDIGARH: Malvinder Singh Kang, the former state general secretary of the Punjab BJP, on Wednesday joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) along with his associates.
A two-time president of the Panjab University Students’ Council (PUSC), Kang had also remained the spokesperson of BJP’s state unit and was also a member of the party’s core group for Punjab.
Kang was formally inducted into AAP by Punjab affairs in-charge Jarnail Singh, leader of opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema and MLA Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer.
“I quit the BJP against the farm laws in October last year as despite the long protest by farmers, the party refused to address their concerns. Punjab needs an alternative politics. The Congress and the Akalis have ruined the state financially. The money-spinning sectors like mining, excise and transport have been taken over by political mafias. On the other hand, the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government has delivered by practicing issue-based politics, which is also the need of the hour in Punjab,” said Kang.
Jarnail Singh informed that Kang was also the National Executive Member of the BJP Yuva Morcha and served as the in-charge of the Haryana Yuva Morcha.
