LUDHIANA: A day after ED (Enforcement Directorate) searched premises of prominent businessman of Ludhiana Gurdeep Singh of Jujhar Transport group and Fastway group, on Friday investigation wing of income tax department too raided his home and offices.
IT raids are being conducted on twelve locations including Ludhiana, Delhi, Gurugram in Haryana, Shimla in Himachal Pradesh and Kota in Rajasthan. Out of the raided premises three are residential which include Singh’s Ludhiana home while others are commercial premises.
IT officials are tightlipped about the entire operation and despite repeated attempts to contact them none of the senior officials responded to the requests to divulge details about the action.
According to highly placed sources, ED raids ended on intervening nights of Thursday and Friday and teams had left all the premises of Singh but on Friday around 11.45AM-12.00PM more than 100 IT officials and police personnel simultaneously raided the 12 premises. Though several people in the city were linking these IT raids with ED’s action against Singh but sources claimed that Singh was on radar of IT’s investigation wing under suspicion of supressing his income or some other income tax violations.
