Punjab govt facilitated Lawrence Bishnoi's interview to defame Sidhu Moosewala: Congress

CHANDIGARH: Launching a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over interview of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi purportedly from inside the jail, the Punjab Congress accused the government of facilitating the interview with an aim to defame Sidhu Moosewala ahead of his first barsi to be held on March 19.

The gangster, in the interview given to a private channel, had alleged that Sidhu Moosewala was behind the murder of Vicky Middhukhera and was supporting his rival gang. Slamming the government, Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa called the interview a “deep-rooted conspiracy” hatched by the government to attack Moosewala.

Bajwa further said that the parents of the slain singer have been demanding justice for their son and even threatened to leave the country. Questioning the timing of the interview, Bajwa stated the government, which has failed to solve the case, got the interview conducted in which tailor-made questions were asked.

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring stated that the government has so far failed to explain where the interview was recorded. "They have just denied that the interview was not recorded in Punjab and have failed to disclose the location of the interview. The gangster is in their custody and still they don't know where the interview was recorded," said Warring.

Reacting to the allegation levelled by the gangster on Moosewala, Warring said: “Will a gangster give a character certificate to a person like Moosewala. He was gem of a person loved by everyone.” Congress demanded the resignation of chief minister Bhagwant Mann over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
