Punjab: ‘Get a Covid test in case of persistent cough, cold, fever’

MOHALI: In view of the increase in Covid cases, Mohali civil surgeon Dr Adarshpal Kaur advised people to get themselves tested for Covid immediately in case of persistent cough, cold and fever. However, for the past few months, covid sampling has come down to 934 per day. Earlier, thousands were being tested daily under the door-to-door Covid-19 sampling and testing campaign.

Besides the civil surgeon, district immunisation officer Dr Girish Dogra also urged residents to follow Covid appropriate behaviour, including wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and washing hands frequently. In case of persistent cough, cold and fever, they asked people to visit a government health facility for doctor’s advice and to get a Covid test done.

According to Dr Adarshpal Kaur, Covid sampling and vaccination is going on as before in government health institutions across the district. Stressing the need for complete anti-Covid vaccination, the civil surgeon said that every beneficiary should get vaccinated without delay as the vaccine gives the body the strength to fight the disease.

Saying that people above the age of 12 were being vaccinated, she assured that the vaccine was safe. In particular, she urged people who had not been vaccinated against Covid or those who had not had a second and precautionary dose to get vaccinated. She said that the Covid vaccine was being provided free of cost in various government health institutions and asked people to contact the health department's helpline 104 for expert advice.
