JALANDHAR: Urging Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann to take up the issue of Union government implementing central service rules in Chandigarh, Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira said the issue is the first litmus test for the newly elected Rajya Sabha members of AAP.
“This unilateral decision is a direct attack on federalism and an attack Punjab’s share of 60% control over the UT,” Khaira said at a press conference here on Monday. “Punjab’s claim over Chandigarh was justified and endorsed in 1985, also during the Rajiv-Longowal pact. The fresh move is deceit and cheating by the Centre,” he said, while asking “if the BJP government would endorse Punjab domicile and Punjabi language while recruiting employees and officers in Chandigarh”.
