Punjab: Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu condemns murder at Singhu border, terms it inhuman

LUDHIANA: Amidst complete silence adopted by Punjab Congress leaders over lynching of a Dalit youth over allegations of sacrilege at the site of farmers protest at Singhu Border, Member of Parliament from Ludhiana Ravneet Singh Bittu has completely taken a different stand.

Taking to Twitter, the Congress MP has not only condemned the incident but has also termed it inhuman. He added that if the victim was involved in any act of sacrilege, he should have been given capital punishment by law instead of being murdered like this.

In the statement posted on his Twitter account, Bittu said, "I strongly condemn the brutal murder the hands of Nihangs at Singhu Border. Murdering a man and then hanging his amputated hand publicly is inhuman. It hampers the image our farmers have built for almost an year now, that is of the most peaceful protest in the world where protestors have lost lives to keep it peaceful and give the morcha infinite strength. If the murdered man had attempted a sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib ji, then he should have been severely punished even by capital punishment but by hands of law. This law defying act by a handful of people can destroy the hard work of millions of farmers who have been sitting peacefully protesting for their rights".
