Punjab: Congress men from CM Capt Amarinder Singh’s home district join Shiromani Akali Dal

CHANDIGARH: Congress leaders from Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s home district of Patiala, including those from Ghanaur, Sanaur and Rajpura constituencies, joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Saturday.

SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal welcomed these leaders into the party fold and assured them due honour and recognition in the party. Those who joined the SAD include Punjab Brahman Sabha vice-president Hem Raj Sharma, Parshuram core committee vice-president Kulwinder Sharma, along with 11 other Congressmen.

Sukhbir also welcomed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sukhjinder Singh Tanda, who is also former chairman of the Doodan Sadan market committee, and three others from Sanaur. Some BJP functionaries who also joined the SAD on Saturday from Rajpura, include BJP district media incharge Krishan Kukreja, former councillor Ravi Kumar Luthra, and seven others.

The SAD president said his party would not leave any stone unturned to push the NDA government to withdraw the three contentious farm laws.
