Punjab: Border school gets AC, auditorium

BATHINDA: A government school at Chananwala village barely 3 kilometres from the Pakistan border has witnessed a turnaround and become Punjab’s first air-conditioned campus with auditorium.

On Sunday state education minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer appreciated the staff for completing the big task of upgrading the school from primary to middle standard.

Till June 2018, the school had poor upkeep, broken toilets, and dismal enrolment, and it ranked 69th out of 77 primary schools in Fazilka block. New headmaster Lavjeet Singh turned ths school around with support from social organisations, staff and the state government.
