Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative Bank’s former director Daljeet Singh Bal granted bail

MUMBAI: A special court granted bail to a 72-year-old former director of Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative Bank who was arrested in February while allegedly trying to cross the India-Nepal border. The former director, Daljeet Singh Bal, was the 20th accused person to be held in the Rs 4,435 crore Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative (PMC) Bank scam case.

“None of witnesses stated that this applicant had sponsored the loan application of proposal of Tejindersingh or asked anybody to favour him in any manner. No specific role is attributed to him except that he was not diligent in discharge of duties as director,” the court said.

‘The court noted that other accused in the case were also granted bail.
