Punjab action line: 6,000 plaints in day, 55 actionable in month

CHANDIGARH: The anti-corruption action line number of Punjab government set up with the objective of booting out corruption has received nearly 1.80 lakh complaints since its inception on March 23, which translates into nearly 6,000 complaints a day.

However, according to official sources, the state vigilance bureau team handling these complaints has found 55 actionable complaints under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Out of these, FIRs have been registered in at least 15 cases in various districts and the police have been able to arrest nearly 20 accused on the basis of investigation of the videos or other evidence by complainants.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann had launched the action line on the martyrdom day of legendary freedom fighters Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on March 23 at Hussainiwala in Ferozepur district.
