Punjab: 3 Khalistan Tiger Force operatives arrested in Moga, arms, ammunition seized

TARN TARAN: The police have arrested three Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) operatives from Moga and seized arms and ammunition from their possession. Tarn Taran SSP O S Ghumman said Kanwarpal Singh, Kulwinder Singh, and Kamalpreet Singh were arrested from Bhagwanpur village in Bhikhiwind area.

The police seized two boxes packed in foam (like tiffin bombs), two hand grenades (86P), and three 9mm pistols. This was the fifth tiffin bomb seized from the border area of Punjab in the last 45 days, added Ghuman.

Earlier, on August 8, Amritsar Rural police had found five hand grenades, along with a tiffin bomb from Daleke village in Lopoke. Similarly, Kapurthala police had also seized a consignment of two hand grenades, a tiffin bomb and other explosive material from Phagwara on August 20. The third tiffin bomb was used to blow off an oil tanker in Ajnala on August 8, while the fourth was found in fields of Dharmpura village in Fazilka on September 18.

The SSP said the development has come four months after the Punjab Police arrested three activists of the KTF, who were allegedly involved in several heinous crimes, including the murder of a dera follower and firing on a priest. “All three were found acting on the directions of KTF’s Canada-based chief Hardeep Singh Nijjar,” the officer added.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the module members had reached Tarn Taran to retrieve the dumped militant hardware consignment on the directions of Canada-based Arshdeep Dalla, a close aide of Nijjar, said ADGP internal security RN Dhoke. He said the KTF activists were awaiting further instructions from Dalla.

An FIR under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC, Section 475 of the Explosives Substance Act, sections 13/18/20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Bhikhiwind, said Ghuman.
