Punjab: 3 held for Upkar Nagar carjacking, kidnapping

LUDHIANA: The police have arrested three accused in the April 12 Upkar Nagar carjacking and kidnapping case. The accused had kidnapped a woman and her father-in-law after robbing their car. They pushed the elderly man out of the car and hours later the woman after snatching her gold and diamond jewellery.

The arrested are Karan Kumar, Chetan Sehdev, both of New Puneet Nagar, and Pramod Kumar of Sahebana village of Ludhiana.

DCP, crime, Varinder Singh Brar said, “Six accused were involved in this case. On April 13, the robbed car was recovered. Two of the accused, Bobby Kumar Pandit of CMC Colony and Pankaj Sharma of Star Colony at Tibba Road, were arrested by Tibba police on April 20 in a separate case of attempt to murder and rioting. The police will bring them on production warrant from the jail for questioning. Besides, the sixth accused, Dhananjay of New Puneet Nagar, is yet to be arrested.”
