LUDHIANA: Two Moga residents were killed and another suffered serious injuries in an accident at Sahnewal on Ludhiana-Delhi National Highway in the early hours on Saturday. The trio were hit by a speeding truck.
The deceased were identified as Satnam Singh, 18, and Kulwant Singh, 40. The injured was Sukhman, 22. They all belonged to Bagha Purana in Moga.
ASI Raghveer Singh from Sahnewal police station said the trio had brought a truck loaded with farm residue to Ludhiana’s Sahnewal area. They reached Sahnewal at around 2.35am. They parked the truck on the service lane.
Kulwant, Sukhman and Satnam alighted from the vehicle to enquire about the exact location to unload the residue from the truck. In the meantime, a speeding truck crashed into the roadside railing and crushed Santam and Kulwant to death and injured Sukhman.
The ASI said the accused driver fled, leaving his vehicle on the spot. It seems that the truck driver had fallen asleep while driving. A case is being registered in the matter.
