Punjab: 2 Ferozepur men held with Rs 6.5 crore heroin

LUDHIANA: The Ludhiana unit of Special Task Force (STF) arrested two Ferozepur men with 1.29kg heroin here on Sunday morning. The recovered contraband costs approximately Rs 6.50 crore in international market.

The arrested are Manpreet Singh Mani and Rahul Kumar, both 22-year-old and residents of Zira, Ferozepur.

Inspector Harbans Singh, in-charge, Ludhiana STF, said, “We received a tip-off that the accused are travelling from Ferozepur to Ludhiana for delivering a drugs consignment. A checkpost was established near railway crossing on Ferozepur Road and their car was stopped. On checking, 1.29kg heroin was found in a black bag kept in the boot of the car.”

Rahul has one drug peddling case against him for which he was lodged in Faridkot jail. He came out on bail about three months ago. Manpreet has a scuffle FIR against him. The duo confessed that they have been into drug peddling for the past two to three years.
