'Punished' - The national media verdict on Nottingham Forest's defeat to Birmingham City

Nottingham Forest slipped up in their quest to keep up their push for promotion to the Premier League yesterday.

The Reds lost 2-1 to Birmingham City at St Andrew's despite going a goal ahead 18 minutes in through Tiago Silva and had a golden chance to double their advantage from the penalty spot through Lewis Grabban.

Grabban missed his spot-kick, though, .

Blues didn't look back, with Scott Hogan equalising three minutes before time and Kristian Pedersen netting a winner with 16 minutes remaining.

We've had our say, with Reds correspondent Sarah Clapson giving her verdict, but what have those who were also in the press box made of the game?

Here's how the national media saw yesterday's game unfold...

Press Association

Fourth-placed Nottingham Forest slipped up at Birmingham, losing 2-1.

Tiago Silva gave Forest the lead before Lewis Grabban saw his penalty saved by Lee Camp in the 41st minute.

Forest were punished when Blues debutant Scott Hogan levelled a minute later and Kristian Pedersen netted the winner 16 minutes from time.

The BBC

Scott Hogan scored on his Birmingham City debut as Blues ended high-flying Nottingham Forest's seven-match unbeaten run.

Tiago Silva had put the visitors ahead with his first Championship goal, receiving a headed pass from Joe Lolley on the left before cutting inside a defender to fire into the roof of the net.

Aston Villa loan man Hogan levelled for the hosts in dramatic circumstances - just seconds after Lee Camp had saved a penalty at the other end from Lewis Grabban following the goalkeeper's foul on Ryan Yates.

Former Villa man Grabban, looking for his 17th goal of the season, went on to see a shot on the turn hit the crossbar and another second-half effort cleared off the line by Harlee Dean.

Kristian Pedersen won it for Blues, bundling the ball home from a corner to consign the Reds to a defeat that drops them to fourth in the table.

Goals in either half from Scott Hogan and Kristian Pedersen gave Birmingham a 2-1 victory over promotion-chasing Nottingham Forest.

Hogan, who joined on loan from rivals Aston Villa earlier this week, marked his debut with a first-half strike to cancel out Tiago Silva's opener.

Then a 74th-minute finish from Pedersen gave Pep Clotet's men a much-needed first home win since October.
