We would get tired, but he never stopped or took a break — he was Nature’s child after all. The fittest person I have known in my life,” wildlife photographer and filmmaker Amogha Varsha says of Puneeth Rajkumar, recalling their long treks while making a documentary film on wildlife and adventure in Karnataka.
Three days ago, Puneeth called Amogha to wish him on receiving the 67th National Film Award for narration and best exploration film in non-feature film category for ‘Wild Karnataka’. On Thursday, they met for lunch.
On October 27, Puneeth had tweeted about his sea diving adventure near Netrani Island: “A story was born decades ago. It had emphasised our people and the glory of our land, spread the green of our forests to the world. Gave inspiration for generations and remained indomitable. The time has come for history to repeat.”
“Over the past few months, we had been travelling together and exploring the forests, coasts and culture of Karnataka,” Amogha said. “He wanted to do something for Karnataka and give back to the people who had loved him unconditionally.”
Amogha recalled the team would walk for kilometres on end, but Puneeth would never complain. “There was something about nature he simply en joyed. He never complained about anything, stay, food or other factors,” Amogha said.
