PUNE: The Bhosari police arrested a 19-year-old youth on the charge of stalking and outraging the modesty of a minor girl and threatening her sister and friend at Gavane Vasti around 4.30pm on Wednesday.
The incident occurred a few hours after the 17-year-old girl had filed a complaint against the youth for abusing her over the cell phone.
The minor was returning home with her sister and friend when the youth intercepted and harassed her. The police have invoked stalking and sexual harassment charges, besides, offences under the Pocso Act against the youth. Senior inspector Bhaskar Jadhav of the Hinjewadi police told TOI that the complainant and the suspect are college students.
“On Wednesday, she came to the police station and filed a complaint against the youth for abusing her over the cell phone. We registered a non-cognisable case against the youth,” Jadhav said.
He said around 4.30pm when the complainant was with her friend and sister, the suspect stopped them. “He asked the complainant what threats had he issued to her and touched her inappropriately. When the complainant’s sister and friend tried to intervene, he threatened to kill them and fled,” Jadhav said. The police have arrested him and sub-inspector Pooja Kadam is investigating the case, he said.
