PUNE: A 50-year-old woman riding pillion died after a truck hit her two-wheeler at Vadgaon bridge along the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass on Tuesday afternoon.
Sub-inspector Prashant Kanase of the Sinhagad Road police said, “Nayana Suresh Mehta and her daughter, Darpana (27) were on their way back home on a scooter Darpana was riding. They were going towards Warje when the accident occurred. Darpana sustained injuries while her mother was declared dead after she was taken to a private hospital.”
The Sinhagad Road police arrested truck driver Sagar Pawar and charged him with rash and negligent driving causing death and injury.
Last week, a 60-year-old man was run over a speeding truck while crossing the Pune-Mumbai highway at Mahavir Chowk in Pimpri.
