Pune police arrest suspect in connection with fake vaccination drive at Kandivali

PUNE: The Pune Rural police have arrested a suspect in connection with the fraudulent Covid-19 vaccination camp at Kandivali's plush housing society.

Baramati City police team led by inspector Namdev Shinde took the suspect Rajesh Pandey (40) into custody from a lodge located on the Bhigwan Road in Baramati.

"The suspect Pandey and his accomplices had organised a Covid-19 vaccination camp in the society on May 30. They had charged Rs 1,260 per shot of the vaccine from the society members and had also given them bogus certificates," Shinde said.

Shinde added that it was later revealed that the suspects did not procure vaccine from official sources and the seals on the vials were broken.

"Kandivali police have already arrested four suspects. Pandey was on the run since then. He was changing his locations. On Wednesday, Kandivali police informed us that Pandey was in Baramati. We traced him at a lodge. He was handed over to Kandivali police," Shinde said.
