PUNE: NCP's city unit on Monday staged an agitation against inflation at Balgandharva Chowk and demanded rollback of the electricity tariff hike, announced recently by the state government.
Giving slogans against the state and the Union governments, the NCP workers condemned the state government for increasing the burden of residents through upward revision of the electricity price. They also demanded reduction in fuel and gas prices, besides review of hike in GST rates.
"The inflation is a major worry for the common citizens. We are agitating to raise voice against it," said Prashant Jagtap, NCP's city unit chief.
The agitators claimed that fulfilling the basic needs of the day-to-day life had become tough because of the price rise. The inclusion of groceries in GST had worsened the situation, they said.
