PUNE: The civic body has asked its immunisation department to review the situation at Covid vaccination centres recording low footfall and weigh the possibility of merging them with the sites doing relatively well to cut down on vaccine wastage against the backdrop of low response from beneficiaries.
Ravindra Binwade, additional commissioner, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), said they would to take a final call on the vaccination sites that would remain functional henceforth by the next week.
“The response to vaccination has gone down considerably because we have achieved 100% immunisation with the first dose and almost 96% with the second. The immunisation department has been instructed to review the sites and table a report by the next week,” said Binwade.
Another PMC official said PMC has around 1.15 lakh Covishield doses and around 14,000 Covaxin doses in stock.
Over 14,000 beneficiaries were vaccinated against Covid-19 in the district till 4pm on Tuesday. A total of 1.73 crore doses of Covishield, Covaxin and Sputnik V have been administered in Pune till now.
