Pune Metropolitan Region records zero Covid deaths for fifth day

PUNE: The Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR) recorded zero Covid deaths consecutively for the fifth day on Thursday.

As many as 213 people tested positive for the infection in PMR on Thursday as compared to 171 the previous day. While the Pune municipal limits recorded 116 cases in the last 24 hours, the rural and Pimpri Chinchwad areas reported 57 and 33 cases, respectively.

The number of recoveries stood at 130 in PMR on Thursday. With this, PMR’s progressive tally of positive cases has increased above 14.52 lakh, while its recoveries have reached 14.31 lakh.

Currently, there are 1,275 active Covid patients in PMR. Of them, 141 are undergoing care at different hospitals and 1,134 patients are in home isolation. A report released by district administration stated that 8,496 samples were checked in the region in the last 24 hours. Of these, as many as 2,245 tests were conducted in the PMC areas. Day’s positivity rate for PMR stood at 2.5%.

With the number of cases consistently coming down, experts have urged residents keep on following Covid rules.
