PUNE: Daily Covid-19 recoveries witnessed a slight dip on Tuesday, while fresh cases remained largely static in the Pune Metropolitan Region.
As many as 645 people tested positive for the virus on Tuesday, pushing the region’s progressive caseload to 11,32,770. At the same time, 605 patients were discharged, pushing the region’s total recoveries to 11,07,037, as per the daily report issued by the district health office.
Pune Municipal Corporation reported 159 fresh cases and 130 discharges; Pimpri Chinchwad had 107 people test positive and 83 recover; the rest of the region reported 379 new patients and 392 recoveries.
Eight people succumbed in PMR on Sunday — four in Pune Municipal Corporation limits, two in Pimpri Chinchwad and one each in the municipal councils and the rural pockets. This took PMR’s death toll to 18,882.
As of Tuesday, there were 7,003 active cases in PMR — 2,773 patients were being treated in hospitals, while 4,230 people had opted for home isolation, the report stated.
As many as 18,862 samples were tested in PMR on Monday, taking the day’s positivity rate to 3.4%. So far, 75,00,987 samples have been tested in PMR.
