PUNE: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has decided to allow only those carrying fully vaccinated certificates to travel by the transport body’s buses from Tuesday.
On Monday, the transport body started the exercise of checking vaccine certificates. “We plan to start the exercise seriously from Tuesday onwards. On Monday, we asked many passengers to furnish the certificates, which was symbolical, and a message that PMPML has started the exercise and people must comply. From Tuesday, anyone not having the certificate will not be allowed onboard,” Dattatraya Zende, traffic manager, PMPML, told TOI.
“More than 80% of passengers didn’t have the certificates and the conductors, depot managers informed them that they should carry them from Tuesday onwards,” another official said. Commuters, however, said that the plan needed to be publicised first. “I was not carrying the certificate as I wasn’t aware that I would be asked to show it,” Nadeem Israr, a shop assistant who travels daily , said.
PMPML officials said that the announcement that all passengers must carry full vaccination certificates was made long back.
