PUNE: The Bhosari police on Monday arrested two men on the charge of robbing Rs3,355 from a PMPML bus conductor near the transport utility’s stop in Kasarwadi.
The police identfied the duo as Kunal Kalekar (26) and Omkar Chavan (20), both from Phugewadi. An officer from the Bhosari police said the PMPML bus conductor, Hemant Pethe (38), and driver Gautam Bhalerao, were on duty along Nigdi-Shevalwadi route. “Three men boarded the bus and created a ruckus when it stopped at Kasarwadi around 12.30am on Monday,” he said.
When the driver and the conductor requested them to stay calm, the three men abused and beat up the duo. “One of them snatched Rs3,355 and a cellphone from Pethe and tried to run away,” said the officer.
Pethe snatched his cellphone back from the man. “The trio fled with the money collected from the passengers as fares,” he said. A bus passenger alerted the police control room about the incident.
