Pune: Body found, cops register murder case

PUNE: The Hinjewadi police on Wednesday registered a murder case after a decomposed body of a woman was found stuck in a tree branch on the banks of Mula river in Maan village.

The police had checked the missing person’s complaints with the Pimpri Chinchwad police as well as the Paud police in the Pune rural. “The description of a 55-year-old woman, who had gone missing in July last year from Paud matched with the body found in Mula river on Wednesday. Her husband had filed the complaint with the Paud police on July 24 last year. He also identified the woman’s earrings and the gown she was wearing,” said an officer from the Pimpri Chinchwad police.

Senior inspector of the Hinjewadi police Balkrishna Sawant told TOI, “We will still conduct a DNA test to confirm the identity of the woman,” Sawant said.
