PUNE: The Kondhwa police are investigating a complaint by a 17-year-old girl stating that an unidentified autorickshaw driver molested her at an isolated place on the Katraj-Kondhwa bypass minutes after she boarded the vehicle for reaching home on June 4.
The girl is doing beautician’s course and working in Raviwar Peth.
Sub inspector Ratnadeep Birajdar on Monday said, "The girl boarded a PMPML bus and alighted at Katraj chowk and from there she boarded an autorickshaw for reaching her residence.”
Birajdar said,"The autorickshaw driver did not stop at her residence and instead drove her to an isolated place where he touched her inappropriately. After the terrified girl raised an alarm, the panicked driver stopped and two passer-byes came to her rescue. The girl fled and reached her residence.”
On Sunday, the girl visited the Khadi machine chowkey and registered an FIR relating to molestation and sexual harassment under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, he said.
"We will analyse CCTV cameras to establish identity of the autorickshaw driver. We hope to arrest him at the earliest," he added.
