Pune: 3 rob trucker of cash, cellphone worth Rs 15,000

PUNE: Three men on a motorcycle threatened a truck driver with a sharp weapon and robbed him of his cellphone and cash, collectively worth Rs15,000 at Indori near Talegaon in the early hours of Sunday.

Chandrabhan Birajdar (27) of Talegaon has filed a complaint with the Talegaon MIDC police.

An officer from the Talegaon MIDC police told TOI around 3am on Sunday, Birajdar’s truck had met with a minor accident near Indori. “He had parked the truck on the road and was checking whether there was any major damage,” the officer said.

He said three men on a bike stopped near him. “They threatened Birajdar with sharp weapon and took Rs8,000 from him. Before driving away from the spot, they also snatched his smartphone,” the officer said.

A case under section 392 (Punishment for robbery) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against them, he said.
