Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Cameron Dawson has become the latest to leap to the defence of Jordan Pickford following criticism this week.
The Blues shot-stopper has come under fire once again over the last few days following his side's 5-2 win over Fleetwood Town on Wednesday evening.
The England No.1 made errors in the build up to both goals for Joey Barton's side to gain a semblance of hope in the match before Carlo Ancelotti's men pulled clear and secured their place in the fourth round of the League Cup.
But Dawson, who worked closely with Pickford at youth levels for England, doesn't understand the criticism for the Everton man.
The Championship goalkeeper believes he knows what would make the situation better for all players in his position in the future.
Dawson told YorkshireLive : "You look at what he [Pickford] has done and what he has done for his country; I just don't get it. A lot of it is an absolute lack of respect.
"This man has contributed to an England World Cup semi-final appearance, won our first penalty shoot out in god knows how long and now he is getting all this.
"It is something I can't put my finger on.
"I look at a lot of goalkeepers at the minute who are getting stick out there and I think my answer to it is we need a lot more goalkeepers in punditry. Some of the shouts I hear are absolutely disgraceful.
"It leaves you guys with no where to go when you are hearing all the pundits coming out with all these ridiculous comments. You have to come out and write about it.
"I think the way to go is to get more goalkeepers into punditry."
