Joleon Lescott and Peter Crouch disagreed with suggestions that Manchester City's win over Burnley was 'boring' after extending their winning run to 13 matches.
City scored two first-half goals as they beat Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor, with Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling getting on the scoresheet.
Pep Guardiola 's side have now picked up 13 successive victories in all competitions as they look to reclaim the Premier League title from Liverpool.
BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey claimed he had seen some people on social media suggesting that City were 'boring' due to their relentless recent form, as they brushed past the Clarets with another dominant display.
However, former City centre-back Lescott and ex-England striker Crouch were quick to dismiss those claims and shared their admiration for the Premier League leaders, who restored their three-point lead over Manchester United.
“Clinical performance in all areas of their game," Lescott explained on BT Sport.
"They were resolute at the back, didn’t look like conceding shots, never mind goals, possibly could’ve been a little bit more clinical in front of goal but they did enough early on. Relentless throughout the game.
“It’s unfair to say it’s ‘boring’, it takes a lot of professionalism and dedication to perform at this level, every week, every game. To say it’s boring, I’d take it as a compliment, to be fair.”
Crouch added: “You felt City had another gear from early on. The early goal was a killer for Burnley and then City looked like they were back in the groove.
“You’ve got to sit back and admire it, because it really is that good, the passing, how incisive they were.
"As good as they are attacking-wise, defensively, getting back in their shape, how good they are at getting back in, it’s just credit to the manager and the Man City squad.”
