Pundits predict what will happen in Manchester United against Leeds United

Manchester United play host to Leeds United in the Premier League for the first time in almost 17 years on Sunday.

It is an eagerly-anticipated clash that will see United looking to end their poor home form at Old Trafford in the league this season.

Meanwhile, Leeds will be looking to record a statement win after winning praise for their performances under Marcelo Bielsa so far this season.

It's set up to be an enticing clash between two great rivals, and this is how pundits think the game will go:

Mark Lawrenson - BBC

"Manchester United have been relatively poor at Old Trafford all season, with only one win in six home league games.

"I'm backing them on Sunday, though, because Leeds can't, won't and don't change their style.

"That will probably suit Manchester United, who are not used to teams coming out and attacking them. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men have struggled to break down sides that just sit in, but that won't be a problem here."

Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Leeds United

Michael Owen - Bet Victor

"What a great sight it is to see this match back on the fixture list. Leeds travel to Old Trafford in the Premier League for the first time since February 2004. That day the sides drew 1-1 and I think this will be another tight match.

"Leeds are at their best when teams come at them. They are excellent at smothering sides and can really run the legs off you if given the chance.

"I think United will need to be wary of that. If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done his homework, he may approach with caution as they won’t want to get caught out on the counter-attack.

"If that materialises, we could be in for a cagey start. However, it only takes one goal to light the touch paper in a derby.

"I can’t help thinking back to Leeds match against Liverpool at the start of the season. If they approach this in a similar way, I think we could be in for an entertaining match with the sides ultimately sharing the points."

Prediction: Manchester United 2-2 Leeds United

Dimitar Berbatov - Betfair

"Another really important game for United here, I think because Leeds play open football and they are brave going forward, there will be a lot more space for United to counter-attack and cause problems with their speed.

"But Leeds don’t care who they play and stick to their game. I can see lots of goals in this one."

Prediction: Manchester United 3-2 Leeds United
