Pundits predict Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs' fates as top four race goes to the wire

Arsenal and Chelsea are about to receive boosts this weekend in their respective bids to make the Premier League top four.

That’s according to prominent pundits Paul Merson, Mark Lawrenson and Michael Owen, who all believe that good news is around the corner for Unai Emery and Maurizio Sarri.

Tottenham Hotspur have also been dragged into the top-four race and it’s the prospect of a defeat at Liverpool which should excite Arsenal, Chelsea and fellow rivals Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men are backed to lose by all three pundits, a result which would leave United behind Spurs on goal difference.

For Arsenal and Chelsea it would be great news if that came to pass, with all three pundits also picking both clubs to prevail against Newcastle United and Cardiff City respectively.

'Incredible!' Arsenal fans can't get enough of Alex Iwobi's piece of skill during training

“While Arsenal have struggled on the road, when they are at home they play with lots of confidence. I can see this almost being a kind of routine victory for them,” Lawrenson told the BBC in his column.

On Chelsea, Lawrenson added: “I would back Chelsea to win on Sunday. Sarri has got a lot of quality in his side and, if they are at it in these kind of games, they tend to win.”

Maurizio Sarri makes a plea to Eden Hazard over his Chelsea future

The victory would put Arsenal (63) in third and two points clear of Spurs (61). United (61) are backed to beat Watford, while Chelsea (60) would be just one point behind the top four if the trio’s prediction against Cardiff City came true.
