Pundits make their Tottenham Hotspur vs Man City predictions

Manchester City will hope to christen Pep Guardiola's new contract with victory against his old rival Jose Mourinho on Saturday.

City return to Premier League action with a clash against Tottenham Hotspur in North London, a game they lost 2-0 last season.

Having drawn with Liverpool before the international break, City will be keen to return to winning ways and make ground on the Premier League's top three, with first vs third facing off at Anfield in Sunday's late kick-off.

Spurs have been in good form though and are sandwiched between Leicester City and Liverpool after a fine start to the campaign.

With that in mind, here's a look at how some of the national media's pundits are predicting the outcome.

Michael Owen - BetVictor

"I’m really looking forward to this one. A lot of people fancy Tottenham to go well this season.

"They have cover in every position with players of international quality and in a season where squads of both depth and quality are most definitely needed, it could well work in Spurs’ favour.

"I’m still trying to work out Manchester City. I’ve watched Pep Guardiola in a few post-match interviews recently, and I can’t help but feel if there is something missing there.

"I’m not quite sure if that translates to the players but either way, I think this will be a tight game and a difficult one to call. However, if City can find their best form, I think they’ll be taking all three points back to Manchester."

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Manchester City

Mark Lawrenson - BBC Sport

"Both of these teams are on a really good run so this will be a really good yardstick for where they are at.

"We know the kind of form Harry Kane is in at the moment for Spurs but City are looking a lot more solid defensively, and they will have a fit Gabriel Jesus to lead their attack.

"It is going to be close, but I would go with Pep Guardiola to get one over Jose Mourinho."

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Manchester City
