Pundits make their Sheffield United vs Man City predictions

Manchester City are being backed to build on their midweek Champions League success when they face Sheffield United.

City go into the game off the back of a 3-0 win away to Marseille but their league form at the start of this season has been patchy and they go into the game in 13th place in the league.

Regardless, both Michael Owen and Mark Lawrenson are backing the Blues to win at Bramall Lane.

Owen, BetVictor - City win

"Manchester City were in full flow against Marseille in the Champions League midweek.

"City fans will be hoping for more of the same against a Sheffield United side that were unlucky to leave empty handed from Anfield last weekend.

"For all City can be so slick moving forward, there are still concerns regarding their backline. I think City will take the points here, but not without the Blades casing Pep’s side some problems."

Lawrenson, BBC Sport - City 2-0 win

"Manchester City got a good win in the Champions League in France on Tuesday but Marseille were not up to much.

"This will be a bigger test. Sheffield United are still without a win in 2020-21 but they created lots of chances at Anfield in their defeat by Liverpool last time out.

"That was arguably the Blades' best performance of the season so far. I think they will be pretty direct again here, and they can cause City problems.

"Ruben Dias has looked pretty solid in the City defence since he arrived at the end of last month, but this will be a decent test for him."
