Pundits in total agreement over Brentford vs Swansea City play-off final as verdicts delivered

Andy Hinchcliffe believes Brentford will beat Swansea City in the Championship play-off final if they play to their strengths.

The Bees are the firm favourites with bookmakers to emerge victorious against the Swans at Wembley.

And despite feeling Swansea can come up with a plan to overcome the Bees, pundit Hinchcliffe says Thomas Frank's side are the better of the two teams that will compete in the showpiece final.

“If you're talking about who is better, then I think it's Brentford," Hinchcliffe told the Sky Sports EFL podcast.

"Does the better team always win? No. So Swansea have a fighting chance.

"If a chance comes their way, it has to be taken if Swansea are going to prevail."

And when asked for his prediction, Keith Andrews commented: "I do think it's going to be ridiculously tight.

"I think you'll see both teams defensively will be very solid at times.

"I have Brentford as favourites. I think they've just got a little bit more about them, but Swansea have produced it when they've needed to this season. You certainly can't rule them out, but I just have Brentford slightly ahead."

Despite admitting the Bees should edge the contest in London this weekend, Andrews believes Steve Cooper deserves huge praise for the job he has done since replacing Graham Potter as Swansea head coach in 2019.

"Two years in a row into the play-offs, this is his first senior gig, he's learning on the job in terms of dealing with senior players," he said.

"He deserves a lot of credit. He shows great humility in the way he conducts himself and harnesses the squad.

"He's come across brilliantly since his introduction as manager of Swansea in the last couple of years."

The Championship play-off final kicks off at 3pm on Saturday, May 29.
