Pundits disagree over predictions for Arsenal's clash with Manchester United

Arsenal travel to bitter rivals Manchester United for their 233rd meeting on Sunday.

The Gunners have beaten United on 84 occasions but have lost 99 times, with 49 draws between the two.

Both sides sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table, with Mikel Arteta's side in 11th on nine points and the Red Devils are in 15th on seven points.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær's side do have a game in hand, however.

United come into the game at Old Trafford in slightly better form, with seven points from 15, compared to six points from 15 for Arsenal.

Here is a prediction round-up from pundits for the big clash at 4.30pm.

Mark Lawrenson:

In his weekly BBC Sport column, Lawrenson predicted a 2-0 win for the hosts.

He wrote: "Arsenal defender David Luiz is out injured so I am not sure whether Gunners boss Mikel Arteta will stick with his system of playing three at the back without the Brazilian.

"Arteta's side have lost three of their past four league games but during that spell it is up front where they have not really been firing.

"I am going with United here, even though they did not create much against Chelsea last week either.

"Their 5-0 win over RB Leipzig was obviously a very good result in the end, but a flurry of late goals and a superb performance off the bench by Marcus Rashford put a bit of a gloss on it because there wasn't much between the sides, certainly in the first half."

Michael Owen:

The former Man United and Liverpool striker believes Arsenal can come away with a draw on Sunday.

He told BetVictor: "Arsenal’s early-season rise has been dampened slightly with recent results, so they’ll be looking at this as the perfect platform to get going again.

"United themselves have picked up. Their outstanding European results must have raised the confidence levels at Old Trafford.

"Marcus Rashford is really starting to fire and he could be United’s danger man here.

"However, I think if Arsenal can keep him quiet, they could come away with a point."

Betting expert 'Jones Knows':

Sky Sports journalist Lewis Jones is also predicting a draw this weekend, backing Arsenal to come away from Old Trafford with a 1-1 result.

He wrote on Sky Sports: "My gut is telling me to trust Manchester United here. It is chipping away at me with the fact I backed United to win the Premier League at 25/1 when they were in rampaging form last season and to keep the faith.

"The signs are positive in that regard; against PSG and RB Leipzig, they looked an elite team again.

"But my gut has held me back before.

"My head puts forward the case that United do come a cropper against well-organised defences and Mikel Arteta has proven to be a master at upsetting the flow of the big boys since taking the job.

"Wins over Liverpool, Manchester City, United, and Chelsea prove that. I am torn.

"And in times of confusion, the draw makes most appeal."
