Pundits deliver predictions for Chelsea vs Aston Villa on Amazon Prime

Chelsea make their Amazon Prime bow on Wednesday evening at Stamford Bridge against Aston Villa, where they are looking to maintain their charge for a top-four finish and Champions League football next season.

The Blues need a response after suffering a surprising defeat at the weekend to West Ham, which left their advantage over Tottenham and the rest of the chasing pack cut short.

With Spurs and Manchester United facing off tonight, while Arsenal play tomorrow, it is the perfect opportunity for Frank Lampard's side to lay down a marker.

As such, despite Villa posing a threat of their own with the likes of Jack Grealish, a trio of respected pundits have unanimously tipped the home side to take the points this evening - and you can see what they had to say below.

Charlie Nicholas - 2-1 Chelsea ( Sky Sports )

Chelsea have had the stumble that we've been predicting would come. A lot of players are not getting the game time they want, but he needs the youngsters in the squad to perform. We have not seen much of Callum Hudson-Odoi recently, while Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham have had a couple of knocks to deal with. This tells you how the squad is being stretched. Chelsea will be up and down for the remainder of the season in my opinion.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa impressed at Old Trafford, and that is exactly where you want Jack Grealish to be playing. I want him just off the left and attacking the defence. To be honest, I think Villa are better than what the table suggests, but I cannot trust them defensively, and for that reason I think Chelsea will edge this one.

Michael Owen - Chelsea win (BetVictor)

Chelsea struggled to break down West Ham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and a worrying trend is that they have now failed to pick up a single point this season when falling behind in the Premier League.

Jack Grealish was again outstanding for Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday when they picked up a well-deserved point. Frank Lampard’s side were not at their best against West Ham at the weekend, but I think they will return to winning ways in an open clash with chances at both ends.

Mark Lawrenson - 2-0 Chelsea ( BBC )

Chelsea's home defeat by West Ham on Saturday was a very strange result when you consider how both teams had been playing, but I think it was just a blip.

Villa's away record is poor in terms of results, but they have produced some good performances - like they did in their draw at Old Trafford on Sunday for example.

Jack Grealish is playing well, and Villa will pose an attacking threat, but I still think Chelsea will come out on top.
