Pundits agree on 'disappointing' Nottingham Forest fate ahead of Newcastle United clash

Pundit Mark Lawrenson agrees with Chris Sutton that Nottingham Forest will lose their unbeaten run at the City Ground today (Sunday).

Forest have gone undefeated at home since September, but now face a tough test against Newcastle, who sit fifth in the Premier League table, 18 points above 14th-placed Forest.

After getting "battered" by Tottenham last time out, Lawrenson cannot see Forest bouncing back with a win, or even a draw. There are plenty of positives for Newcastle supporters, and the pundits are backing that to continue. Lawrenson has opted for a 2-1 win for Eddie Howe's men in his predictions.

In his predictions column for Paddy Power, Lawrenson wrote: "Nottingham Forest got battered at Tottenham last time but Newcastle got a much-needed win. I think Newcastle might just pick up now towards the end of the season.

"They did get a bit lucky against Wolves with Nick Pope not getting sent off but Forest seem to get all their points away from home. Nottingham Forest 1-2 Newcastle United."

It comes after Chris Sutton made a similar prediction in which he said: "Forest were well beaten at Tottenham. Their performance was so disappointing, and they were very lucky to get a goal - they barely had an attack. Steve Cooper's side rely so much on their home form because their results on the road have been terrible, but it means they are under pressure to get points here, and I think that might begin to tell.

"It smells a bit like a draw to me, but Newcastle need the win and Forest can't play Chris Wood and also have issues at the back. Forest haven't lost at the City Ground in the league since the middle of September but I think that run ends here. 0-1."
