Pundits agree on Chelsea vs Manchester United outcome

Manchester United are poised and ready to do battle with another top-four contender following their statement win against Tottenham at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Fred and Bruno Fernandes settled the scores for United in that midweek fixture as Erik ten Hag and his players get set to resume their Premier League charge at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon (5.30pm). But will Ten Hag be able to add Chelsea to his growing list of scalps?

United have already beaten Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham since the Dutchman took over this summer. Here is what three high-profile pundits think will happen in west London at the weekend.

Chris Sutton - BBC Sport

In his latest BBC Sport column, Sutton added: "It's a good thing for Manchester United that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be involved after throwing his toys out of the pram. So fair play to Erik ten Hag for banishing him, because you cannot have a player behaving like that.

"But I'm still really not sure what to expect from United. They were poor against Newcastle, then excellent against Tottenham... what idiot would have predicted a Spurs win at Old Trafford?

"Chelsea's draw with Brentford on the same night was probably a bit of a disappointment given their other results under Graham Potter, who has made a good start as manager and is unbeaten in his seven games in charge. I keep backing United to lose under Ten Hag.

"That is going down well with their fans, as you would expect, and I've probably got more stick incoming on social media with my prediction here. Their past four meetings with Chelsea have all ended in draws but, this time, I think there will be a winner and I'm going with Potter to get it."

Score prediction: Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United

Mark Lawrenson - Paddy Power

When asked for his Paddy Power tips, Lawrenson continued: "United won comfortably against Spurs and Chelsea drew at Brentford. I think Graham Potter's slowly starting to get his feet under the table, he's slowly learning what his best team is and he's given everybody a go. It's a very happy camp, so I'll go for a home win."

Score prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Manchester United
