Richie Wellens says Nottingham Forest's goal at Reading was not without controversy, but it was a fine finish by Ben Watson.
The Swindon Town manager was speaking in his capacity as a pundit on the EFL on Quest highlights show after the Reds were held to a 1-1 draw amid a dramatic finish.
Watson opened the scoring in the 97th minute, only for Reading to take a point seconds later via an unfortunate Tobias Figueiredo own goal.
Reading felt Watson's goal should not have stood as they claimed the ball was out before Joe Worrall hooked it into the danger area for Watson to score.
Wellens though was ready to give the assistant referee the benefit of the doubt.
"It’s a difficult one (if the ball went out for Watson’s goal) because the ball is in the air. Sometimes, if it’s next to the line it’s easier to see. The linesman is in the best place to see," he said.
Regardless, Wellens was impressed with Watson's composure to score his third goal of the season with a crisp finish on his wrong foot.
"AlI can say is this is a fantastic finish. Ben Watson is a right-footed player but he doesn’t panic and just slots it into the corner, it’s a beautiful finish," he said.
The result left Forest fifth in the Championship, nine points ahead of 14th placed Reading.
