Pundit urges Eden Hazard to make 'deserved' switch to Real Madrid from Chelsea this summer

Glenn Hoddle has urged Eden Hazard to sign for Real Madrid as his performances for Chelsea means he deserves to play at the Bernabeu under Zinedine Zidane.

The Belgian's potential move to Spain is set to be the transfer saga of the summer with numerous links and reports already been made about him leaving Stamford Bridge.

He's not spoken about it himself, with Hazard only every saying how his focus is on Chelsea, something he has stayed true to by almost single-handedly dragging them into the Champions League for next season.

A Chelsea without Hazard is almost too painful for fans to think of and that's a statement that Hoddle agrees with, stating that the club are at a crossroads at the moment with Hazard potentially leaving and contracts coming to an end.

Speaking TSN, as reported by the Metro, Hoddle said: "I think Chelsea will get into the Champions League, whether Hazard will be there with them… I feel it might be the right time for him personally, not for Chelsea or the Premier League, but for him to go to Real Madrid if that offer is there on the table for him.

"He deserves to play in that team. They’ve got a re-build going on as well.

"I personally would love to see him play in the Premier League but I’ve got a feeling he might move.

"Chelsea, at the moment, there’s something missing but without Hazard in the team and all the hope [goes].

"The only player who was really dangerous for Chelsea when they weren’t playing so well and Manchester United were on top, was Hazard.

"Hazard was doing everything he normally does, he looks sharp, he was beating players, every time he had the ball something was going to happen.

"You take him away from that team at the moment you’ve got a massive hole to fill. Can you fill it? Probably not. And it’s a real big concern for Chelsea at the moment.

"And that’s where I think they are at as a club, they’re at a crossroads.

"With their owner, the new stadium not coming, there’s a lot of players coming to the end of their contracts, the transfer embargo as well.

"All these things are not positive. The main thing they’ve got to do is switch off from that, win their last two games, get into that top four, or win the Europa League, they are still in a good position to win that. But I think they’ll end up in fourth spot."
