Pundit teases reason behind Nottingham Forest legend Roy Keane's surprise decision

Micah Richards has teased at the real reason behind Nottingham Forest legend Roy Keane’s decision to join Instagram.

The former Reds midfielder and assistant manager raised a few eyebrows when news spread he had joined the social media picture-sharing website last week, with some questioning if it was an official account.

Keane has often portrayed himself as somebody who is not keen on social media and has hit out at players for using it in the past.

But he has taken the plunge, with his first photo one of himself with his dog and the caption: “A man’s best friend.”

And now his Sky Sports colleague Richards has offered an explanation for the Irishman’s surprise appearance.

He joked: “I can confirm it’s the real @officialkeane16. He was told nobody will agree to make our road trip series unless he’s on @instagram so here he is!!!

“You can also expect behind the scenes footage of my kitman duties when he gets a job again. #roykeane #skysports”

Keane chose a picture from his Forest playing career for his second upload on Instagram.

He put up a picture of himself involved in a heated exchange when playing against West Ham.

And with the photo going up on Valentine’s Day, he quipped: “Don’t forget to show some love today.”

Keane joined Instagram on Friday and already has one million followers.
