Pundit spots Darwin Nunez change that means Liverpool can unleash 'nightmare' for other teams

Darwin Nunez has been praised by a prominent pundit after his performance in Liverpool’s latest win.

The Reds claimed a 3-1 victory over Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. Nunez scored twice at Anfield, with Roberto Firmino also on the scoresheet.

Nunez, who completed a move that could potentially reach a fee worth £85million including add-ons, already has nine goals in all competitions in his debut season on Merseyside. The Uruguayan has found the back of the net seven times in his last 11 appearances all told.

BBC pundit Garth Crooks has included Nunez in his team of the week following his performance against Southampton. Crooks has explained why Nunez is proving to be a “nightmare” for opposition teams.

“The young Darwin Nunez is starting to find his rhythm at Anfield and, as a consequence, the goals are beginning to come naturally as he doesn't seem to be trying so hard to impress any more,” wrote Crooks, for the BBC .

“The 23-year-old Uruguay international undoubtedly has all the elements to become a top-class striker and might one day even fill the role left by Sadio Mane - although that is a big ask.

“Southampton did have a go, but didn't have the class or firepower to really trouble the former European champions. Nunez, on the other hand, desperately wants to get on the end of things which is a nightmare for any defence.”
