Pundit's view on why Danny Rose will sign for Newcastle United

Danny Rose and Newcastle United are a "good fit" and the Tottenham defender will likely complete a permanent switch to Tyneside.

That's the view of pundit Paul Robinson, who believes the England international will be keen to made the move to the Magpies a permanent one.

With his days in north London under Jose Mourinho seemingly numbered, the 29-year-old completed a loan switch to United in January and has so far made six appearances in black and white.

Magpies' head coach Steve Bruce has spoken publicly of his desire to seal the signing of Rose on a permanent basis.

And former Spurs and England goalkeeper Robinson believes the switch to St James' Park ticks all of the boxes for the defender keen to regain his place in the international set-up.

Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson said: “I can see Danny Rose signing permanently.

“It is a move away from Spurs like he wants. In all fairness to him when he moved there was a European Championship to aim for and he was way behind Ben Chilwell in the pecking order.

“Newcastle is a great club to play for – the supporters, the stadium and a manager in Steve Bruce that Danny Rose will respond to.

“His honesty and the way he comes across in interviews can often be taken wrong but I find it refreshing. He said at the end of his contract he wanted to leave Spurs and if you are fully committed and still perform there is nothing wrong with that.

“Steve Bruce and Rose are a good fit and if he continues to do well I can see it being made permanent.”
