Pundit's verdict on 'clinical' Swansea City and the job Steve Cooper is doing

Former England international Kevin Phillips says Swansea City's clinical finishing has been the key to their magnificent start to the 2019/20 campaign.

The Swans briefly returned to the summit of the Championship at the weekend as they sunk Wigan Athletic 2-1 at the DW Stadium.

Goals from Nathan Dyer and Sam Surridge earned Steve Cooper's men all three points against the Latics. Those efforts were the only two Swansea managed on target against

And Phillips heaped praise on Cooper for the way he has started his career in senior management with the Swans.

"When they do create opportunities, they score. They're clinical," said Phillips on EFL Quest.

"They had two shots on target and scored two goals and come away from there winning the game.

"Steve Cooper's done a fantastic job there. They're on the same points as Leeds 15 games in. What a start to his Swansea career."

Swansea are the only side in the English Football League yet to lose away from home this season.

That record will be put on the line on Saturday when the Swans take on Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
